Heroes of Ukraine

As the Russian invasion of Ukraine plays out in real-time across the news and social media. Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a European democracy of 44 million people, involves bombarding its cities and slowly inching towards the capital, Kyiv. It is essential to raise awareness and bring light to the atrocities committed by Russian forces. However, it is just as important to recognize the heroes that stay behind to defend their homeland. The brave patriots who refuse to evacuate and instead pick up arms to rightfully defend their country from the Russian invasion are a perfect example of courage.

The unwavering tenacity of Ukrainian citizens under challenging situations, the unwillingness to give in at times of despair, are all traits we should idolize. President Volodymyr himself was offered an evacuation from the American government to evacuate Kyiv, to which he rejected and claimed he needs ammunition, “not a ride”. Holding firm in our beliefs and faith at these times is a perfect opportunity to become closer to Allah. That being said, it is equally as important to raise awareness of these heroes and gather as much support as possible. Fundraisers, campaigns, and rallies are all events that we can participate in and initiate in order to raise awareness and support. With Ukraine not being a member of NATO, they further slide into a predicament and require more foreign support.
