Surah Al-Kawthar :
Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) at age 25 married Kadhija and had 6 children. He had two sons and three daughters. During the time when the Prophet had reached his prophethood, many did not believe him or follow his ideals. The Prophet’s two sons had died and his community looked down upon him because now he didn’t have anyone to carry on his legacy. When the Prophet tried to preach his ideals most Meccans mocked him and ignored his thoughts. After the death of his sons and his community shunning him, the Prophet was heartbroken. During this time of sadness, Allah sent the Prophet surah Kawther stating good news.
Innaa a'taina kal kauthar ~ To thee have We granted the Fount (of Abundance).
Allah created a river named Kawthar in Jannah that only true Muslims can drink from. The water from the river will taste nice, sweet, and quench thirst forever.
Fa salli li rabbika wanhar ~ Therefore to thy Lord turn in Prayer and Sacrifice.
Allah is encouraging the Prophet that the sacrifice and time he puts into Islam is worth it because there will be abundance in the afterlife. The fact that the current life is temporary and how the Prophet will be awarded in the afterlife for all the sacrifices he made.
Inna shani-aka huwal abtar ~ For he who hateth thee, he will be cut off (from Future Hope).
Allah will make sure that the people who brought hate upon the Prophet will eventually suffer and face their own pain.
This surah in the Quran demonstrates the theme because it shows that no matter what adversity one faces, if they do the right thing they will have abundance in the afterlife. The prophet faced challenges such as having little believers and his own community in Mecca shunning him. However, Allah showed him that there is content through patience and just doing the right things. The Prophet realized he just needed to trust the process and all would be fine.
